ORBITAL SHOPIING PARK, SWINDON, WILTSHIRE

A new two storey Customer Services Centre building is located close to the library and local bus stops in the south-eastern corner of a well-established shopping park, providing a focal point at the entrance. The centre provides at ground floor level, a customer information hub, toilets and baby changing facilities, an ATM cash facility and a click and collect goods facility. Together with an office and constituency surgery for the local MP at first floor level.

The architectural language is similar to the surrounding buildings and the curved building façade surfaces guide the pedestrian flows through the public realm. The materials have been selected to tie in visually with the existing buildings, utilizing timber rain screen cladding, full height glazing and a colour coated metal rain screen cladding. The public realm areas have been re-paved, re-lit and re-sign posted clearly guiding the public around a step free pedestrian environment. The enhancement to the public area has attracted public and seasonal events.
